About Me

"The most valuable resource that all teaches have is each other. Without collaboration our growth is limited to our own perspectives." --Robert John Meehan
I was a math teacher for 7 years in a middle school teaching 7th and Algebra 1. I love nothing more than to see my students fall in love with mathematics and enjoy learning.  My teaching style was always hands-on and inquiry based, students were the center of my room and their learning was the most important. Not learning to memorize the newest formula or rules but to dive into the why and how formulas were created.

In spring of 2017, I knew that I wanted to make a bigger impact than just my classroom with the 100 students I taught each year.  So I applied to be an Instructional Specialist for the same school I taught math at.  I figured if I can help the teachers grow in their own profession then the impact would be so much greater.

The journey began for 2017-2018 as the new instructional specialist on the campus. In October of 2017, I went to an assessment and grading conference with my school principal, Jessica Bennett, which changed our mindset of how I would be able to help my teachers. This is when the journey of standards-based learning began.
